iPhone 16 Fully Leaked: No Need to Stay Up for the Launch Event
Based on previous reports, the iPhone 16 is expected to be unveiled on Tuesday, September 10. With less than a month to go, the Apple Fall Event is fast approaching, and leaks about the iPhone 16 series are becoming increasingly detailed. Here’s a comprehensive summary of what we know so far.
Invitation Leak
Recently, leaker Majin Bu shared a purported "event invitation" screenshot, though its authenticity remains unconfirmed. The blurred Apple logo seemingly hints at a new "Desert Gold" color option. The event's theme, "Ready. Set. Capture.", is likely connected to the new "capture" button rumored to be introduced with this year's models.
Larger Display
The iPhone 16 Pro will feature a larger 6.3-inch display, up from 6.1 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s display will increase to 6.9 inches, making it the largest iPhone screen ever.
Ultra-Narrow Bezels
The iPhone 16 Pro series will set new records for slim bezels. The iPhone 16 Pro will have a black bezel measuring just 1.2mm, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will shrink this even further to 1.15mm. However, not all models will feature these ultra-thin bezels—the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will retain thicker bezels at 2.0497mm and 2.0599mm, respectively.
Color Options
The standard iPhone 16 will come in five colors: Black, White, Blue, Green, and Pink, with Yellow being discontinued and White newly introduced. The iPhone 16 Pro series, with its titanium frame, will be available in Black, White, Natural, and the newly added Desert Gold, replacing the Blue variant from the iPhone 15 Pro.
Processor Upgrade
The entire iPhone 16 series is expected to be powered by the A18 Bionic chip. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will feature the A18 processor, while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with the A18 Pro, which will offer advanced AI capabilities and ray tracing, distinguishing it from the standard A18.
Increased RAM
For the first time, the base iPhone 16 models will come with 8GB of RAM, matching the Pro series. This upgrade is aimed at supporting the new Apple Intelligence features introduced in iOS 18, which demand higher memory capacity.
Battery and Charging
The iPhone 16 series will incorporate stacked battery technology to increase energy density and battery life. The battery capacity is expected to increase from 3274mAh in the iPhone 15 Pro to 3577mAh in the iPhone 16 Pro, with the Pro Max version potentially jumping from 4422mAh to 4676mAh, a 5.7% increase. Additionally, the iPhone 16 series will support up to 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe wireless charging.
Camera Enhancements
The iPhone 16 Pro series will see significant improvements in its camera system. The main camera will be upgraded to a 48MP ultra-wide lens with a larger sensor for better low-light performance. The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to inherit the 5x periscope telephoto module from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, offering 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature an "ultra-long telephoto lens," enabling optical zoom beyond 5x.
Faster Wi-Fi Support
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will support Wi-Fi 6E, offering faster wireless speeds and reduced signal interference by utilizing the 6GHz band. The iPhone 16 Pro series is expected to upgrade to Wi-Fi 7, which promises even faster speeds and lower latency.
New Camera Layout
The iPhone 16 Pro series will adopt a larger camera module to accommodate the periscope super zoom lens and other new camera technologies. However, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are rumored to feature vertically aligned rear cameras, reminiscent of the iPhone X, moving away from the square camera island and diagonal camera layout of the iPhone 15.
New Action Button
The iPhone 16 series will ditch the traditional mute switch in favor of a new "action" button located below the power button on the right side. This button will be customizable for various quick actions and will be pressure-sensitive, allowing users to lightly press to focus and press harder to capture a photo. The button may also support zoom adjustments by sliding left or right on its surface.
Apple AI Integration
There are reports that the entire iPhone 16 series will come with high refresh rate displays, although it's unclear whether the standard models will feature LTPO technology for adaptive refresh rates. The differences between the standard and Pro models will likely lie in screen size and brightness.
Enhanced Cooling
The iPhone 16 series will include a graphene cooling system to dissipate heat more effectively, keeping the device cooler during intensive tasks. Additionally, there are rumors that the iPhone 16 Pro series might use metal-cased batteries to further improve heat dissipation.
These are the key highlights of the iPhone 16 series. Are you planning to upgrade?
